DANNY ROSS ARBROATH SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE: MAN ORDERED TO PAY £250 AFTER GUILTY VERDICT
On December 24, 2021, a man from Arbroath named Danny Ross was legally mandated to provide financial compensation to a woman he was found guilty of sexually assaulting. The incident in question occurred on June 30, 2019, and the victim has since been undergoing therapy to cope with the trauma caused by the assault.During the proceedings at Forfar Sheriff Court, the court heard detailed accounts of the incident, which took place at a property in Arbroath. Ross, who resides at Moonlight Gardens, denied any involvement in the assault. Despite his denial, Sheriff Richard McFarlane convicted him after a thorough trial process.
Nick Whelan, representing Ross, argued that his client was currently under a compulsive order, yet he maintained that Ross was innocent of the charges brought against him. The court, however, found sufficient evidence to convict Ross of the sexual assault.
As part of the sentence, Sheriff McFarlane ordered Ross to register as a sex offender for a period of nine months. Additionally, Ross was placed under supervision for the same duration, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct. The court also mandated that Ross complete 150 hours of unpaid community service and pay the victim £250 in compensation before the supervision period concludes.
Comments from social media followers highlighted the severity of the case, with one noting that Ross had sexually assaulted a woman while she was attempting to sleep in her boyfriend’s bed. The conviction underscores the importance of public awareness regarding sex offenders and the need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from such crimes.
