A man has been sentenced to prison for engaging in coercive and controlling conduct.

From October 2021 to March 2022, Daniel Santana, now aged 40, repeatedly attacked the victim, caused damage to her family’s personal belongings, and made frequent calls to her, sometimes ringing her up to 60 times consecutively.

The victim eventually had the courage to report the abuse in January 2025, leading to Santana’s immediate arrest.

Santana, born on May 26, 1985, and residing in Croydon, received a prison term of three years and seven months after admitting to controlling and coercive behavior during a hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday, July 23.

Additionally, he was issued a 20-year restraining order and was recalled to prison to serve the remaining nine years of his sentence for prior convictions that include rape, grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm, arson, and harassment.
