MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
A man responsible for controlling and manipulating a woman has received a prison sentence exceeding two years.Daniel Johnson, residing on Chester Road in Warrington, was given a 27-month prison term by Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
The 53-year-old admitted to charges of controlling and coercive behavior along with perverting the course of justice.
Authorities were alerted to concerns about Johnson’s conduct towards the victim, leading to police communication with her.
She reported that Johnson was verbally abusive, made unwanted sexual advances, and secretly photographed her when she was undressed without her permission.
Johnson isolated her from friends and family, and the victim also claimed he stole money from her, rendering her financially dependent.
He continued to contact her persistently, instilling fear of consequences if she did not respond, and followed her in his car and visited her home uninvited.
Additionally, Johnson threatened to harm himself if she refused to drop the charges, and attempted to interfere with justice by parking outside her house and sending her letters to persuade her to retract her police statement.
Johnson was formally charged, entered a guilty plea in court, and was ordered to follow a restraining order meant to protect the victim.
