NOTTINGHAMSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man named Daniel Jeyes has been convicted of repeatedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Sutton-in-Ashfield, leaving her with severe injuries.He broke her nose during a violent attack at their home on 7 August 2022.
When police arrived, Jeyes falsely claimed his partner had fallen downstairs, but they found her with serious facial injuries, bruising, swelling, and a black eye.
Jeyes stated they had been drinking in Sutton town centre and that his partner was involved in a fight earlier that evening.
However, evidence supported the victim's account of the assault.
Jeyes was tried at Nottingham Crown Court on 7 December 2022 and sentenced to two years and eight months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Detective Constable Liam Cowan stated, “This was an extremely unpleasant assault and one can only imagine how terrified the victim must have been.
Jeyes then tried to cover up his cowardly attack by making false claims that his victim had fallen.” The officer also emphasized the seriousness with which domestic violence reports are treated and the importance of supporting victims.
