DANIEL HOLDAWAY SENTENCED IN SITTINGBOURNE FOR RAPE IN GRAVESEND HOTEL
A man from Sittingbourne, Daniel Holdaway, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of raping a woman in a hotel room following a night out. The incident took place in the Gravesend area, and the case was brought to justice through a thorough investigation by Kent Police.According to reports, the assault occurred on 29 August 2021. The police launched an inquiry after the woman, who was assaulted in Gravesend, came forward to report the incident. Holdaway, aged 24 at the time, had spent the evening with the woman before escorting her to a hotel where they had pre-arranged accommodation.
Once inside the hotel room, the situation took a disturbing turn. Despite the woman clearly expressing her wishes and repeatedly stating her refusal, Holdaway ignored her protests and proceeded to commit the sexual assault. The woman, after the assault, was able to leave the premises while Holdaway was asleep. She reported the incident to the authorities shortly thereafter, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
Officers responded swiftly, conducting initial investigations that included collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Holdaway was arrested on 31 August 2021 and subsequently charged with rape. He was taken into custody and faced legal proceedings.
Holdaway, who resides on Burnham Close in Milton Regis, initially pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, after a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, a jury found him guilty. The court proceedings concluded on 30 May 2025, with the judge sentencing him to five years in prison. Additionally, he will be subject to strict sex offender notification requirements that will remain in effect indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and regulation of his activities post-release.
