POLICE OFFICER JAILED AFTER THREATENING TO RAPE TWO WOMEN AND THROW ACID IN ONE'S FACE
A decorated police officer who subjected two former partners to harassment and control has received a prison sentence of 27 months.Daniel Glassey, aged 30, was recognized as Special Constable of the Year by Cheshire Constabulary, yet behind the scenes, he made his ex-girlfriends' lives profoundly unbearable, a court was told.
Investigators revealed he made threats to rape both women and even threatened to throw acid in the face of one woman, who was also a police officer.
He also warned she would be assaulted physically, his threats included kicking her in the face, setting her home on fire, and causing her to lose her job.
Throughout their relationship, Glassey engaged in physical abuse; he spat at her, pulled her hair, pressed her against a wall, and stabbed her leg with a pen.
He joined the police force in August 2017.
His former partner stated that he became increasingly obsessed with his work.
After she ended their relationship in June 2018, he continued to torment her via numerous offensive text messages and phone calls, demanding she send photographs to confirm her whereabouts and the people she was with.
In addition, Glassey was accused of forming a secret relationship with another police officer in March 2018, with neither woman aware of the other's involvement.
His control extended to manipulating her schedule by changing shifts so they would always be working together, along with spreading false allegations that she was unfaithful, insulting her, and undermining her confidence.
The escalation of his harassment was evident last April when the victim was at a colleague's farewell party.
A fellow officer noticed Glassey had phoned her over 100 times and inquired about the situation.
The victim disclosed the ongoing abuse, breaking down in tears, which prompted her colleague to report Glassey's conduct to authorities.
Glassey, from Dale Lane, Appleton, Warrington, appeared in Chester Crown Court last Friday, admitting to charges of controlling and coercive behavior and harassment without violence.
He was sentenced to 27 months in prison.
After the sentencing, Detective Constable Leanne Brundrett remarked, "Thankfully, as a result of the bravery and courage that they have shown throughout the investigation, Glassey is now facing the consequences of his actions."
