CONSETT MAN IN COURT FOR SIGNING UP TO ONLINE DATING SITES
A man who neglected to inform authorities of his registration on three dating websites found himself in court after violating a court order just over a week after it was imposed.Daniel Everitt had been issued a sexual risk order (SRO) to supervise his online behavior, although he has no convictions for sexual offenses.
The 33-year-old was detained when police conducted a routine scan of his electronic devices during a visit to his home, as explained to Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Syed Ali stated: “A risk management officer visited the defendant’s residence for a routine check.
Upon reviewing his phone, they observed several notifications from other dating platforms.” Mr.
Ali also noted that Everitt has no prior criminal record.
Residing on Durham Road in Blackhill, Consett, Everitt admitted to violating his SRO on three occasions starting March 18 of this year.
The bench’s chairwoman, Suzanne Chivers, sentenced him to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, along with 27 days of rehabilitation activities as part of a one-year community order.
She remarked: “It was only eight days after you received the sexual risk order that you created these accounts.
We believe the custodial threshold has been met, but we will suspend it.” Additionally, Everitt was mandated to register as a sex offender for seven years and was ordered to pay £239 in court costs.
