SELF-PROCLAIMED CONSETT 'RAGING PERVERT' JAILED FOR SEX ATTACKS

A self-proclaimed “sex pest” and “raging pervert” has been jailed for attacking three women as they slept.

The offences did not happen at the same time, but were all committed while Andrew Nicholson was drugged-up or drunk, Durham Crown Court heard.

Two victims were unaware of the assaults as they slept, while another woke during the incident but Nicholson continued with the assault.

Police discovered footage Nicholson filmed of himself raping another woman during their investigation.

Prosecutor Ian West stated Nicholson often described himself as a “sex pest” and “a raging pervert” while drunk and drugged.

Arrested in January this year, Nicholson initially claimed everything was consensual but later admitted to two counts of rape and two of sexual assault.

He was sentenced to 14 years in prison, with two-thirds to be served before release, and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining orders for 15 years.

He will also be registered as a sex offender for life.

Impact and interview statements revealed the severe mental health effects on victims, including self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

His solicitor highlighted his previous good character, drug dependence post-break-up, and current remorse.

The judge described Nicholson's behavior as disturbing and concerning, emphasizing his belief he could behave as he did with victims while they were asleep.
