PREDATORY NEWCASTLE CHILD SEX ATTACKER DANIEL CURTIS JAILED
A child sex attacker who engaged in a series of sickening abuses against a teenage girl in Newcastle has been convicted and sentenced. The offender, Daniel Curtis, aged 40, was found guilty of seven counts of sexual activity with a girl after a complex investigation.
The abuse included grooming the girl through sexually explicit messages on social media, which led to physical abuse at an address in Newcastle.
Curtis initially evaded justice by repeatedly failing to appear in court but was eventually apprehended.
He was tried at Newcastle Crown Court in May and sentenced on July 25 to eight years in prison.
Additionally, Curtis will spend the rest of his life on the Sex Offenders’ Register, be subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and a restraining order to protect the victim.
The victim shared her ordeal, saying, 'What Daniel Curtis did to me has had a big impact on my life...
It was really scary for me having to go through a police investigation...
There were two times I tried to take my own life during the investigation.
Everything became too much for me, and I felt like I’d be better off dead than having to deal with it all.' The police also highlighted their commitment to protecting victims, with Detective Constable Claire Ashurst praising the victim's bravery and emphasizing police monitoring of Curtis for life.
