DANIEL CAMPBELL OF WIDNES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST PRIMARY SCHOOL GIRLS
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Widnes, Daniel Campbell, a man with a long history of criminal behavior, was sentenced to serve a total of six years in prison after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses involving young girls. The sentencing took place at Liverpool Crown Court, where the court heard detailed accounts of the heinous acts committed by Campbell, who was only a teenager at the time of the crimes.
Campbell, now aged 27, was convicted of raping one young girl and sexually assaulting another, both of whom were still in primary school during the incidents.
The court proceedings revealed the profound and lasting trauma inflicted upon his victims, with the judge describing Campbell as a 'dangerous' individual whose actions had devastating effects on the lives of those he targeted.
One of the victims, a girl who was raped by Campbell, provided a heartbreaking victim impact statement.
She described feeling as though her body had been 'tarred' in the aftermath of the assault, and expressed feelings of worthlessness, believing that she would never be loved.
She recounted her ongoing fears, stating that she was afraid to go outside for fear of being raped again.
The girl also shared that whenever she saw someone who resembled Campbell, she would experience panic attacks, and she continues to suffer from flashbacks to this day.
Her emotional testimony highlighted the long-term psychological scars left by Campbell’s actions.
She explained that her ability to form romantic relationships has been severely affected, and she struggles with trust issues stemming from her trauma.
She also revealed that her mental health issues have led her to self-harm and experience flashbacks, which continue to haunt her.
The second victim, a young girl who was repeatedly touched under her skirt by Campbell, also gave a poignant account of her suffering.
She described how the abuse caused her to develop anxiety and depression, which led her to drug use, self-harm, and even an attempt to take her own life at the age of 16.
She explained that her relationships with boys have been impacted by her experiences, and her relationship with her mother, who was unaware of the abuse, has also suffered.
Her mother believed her behavior was simply 'being naughty,' unaware of the trauma she was enduring.
It was also revealed that Campbell has a troubling criminal record dating back to 2007, with previous convictions for sexual offenses.
He has served two separate prison sentences prior to this case, further underscoring the pattern of his predatory behavior.
During the sentencing hearing, Campbell sat with his head bowed for most of the proceedings, showing signs of remorse or perhaps resignation.
The court ultimately sentenced him to six years in prison for the rape conviction, and an additional six months for two counts of sexual assault, with the sentences to run concurrently.
The judge’s decision reflects the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims, emphasizing the need for public safety and justice in cases involving such vulnerable individuals.
—————————————————————————————————— WINSFORD PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT AGAIN AND SENT BACK TO JAIL AFTER BREACHING COURT ORDER WINSFORD – A convicted paedophile who had been living under strict court conditions has been hauled back behind bars after flagrantly breaching the terms of his legal orders, it has emerged.
According to police reports and court records, 48-year-old Gary McVeigh, of Delamere Street, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on 6 January after officers discovered vast quantities of indecent material during a routine check.
McVeigh, who was already subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, was found in possession of thousands of indecent images of children on multiple devices including a mobile phone, laptop and memory cards.
Further examination revealed more than 12,950 indecent images, and evidence suggesting he had distributed over 120,000 more to other offenders online.
Despite being well aware of the conditions imposed on him after his earlier conviction, McVeigh ignored the provisions of the order and continued to download and share abusive material showing vulnerable children being tortured and abused, according to the court and police statements.
Detective Sergeant Helen Wrigley told reporters that McVeigh’s arrest during a routine monitoring visit demonstrated the effectiveness of the system in place to keep tabs on registered offenders.
However, she stressed that such monitoring was essential precisely because some individuals will re-offend if given the opportunity.
At his sentencing, McVeigh received a 14-month prison term and was ordered to pay £187 in costs.
He must also remain on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years, reflecting the severity of his breach and his ongoing risk.
