A 53-year-old man named Daniel Archer has been convicted of murder at London's Old Bailey court. He faces a life sentence after being found guilty of killing 27-year-old Somali prostitute Nasra Ismail.
The trial was told that Archer took Ms.
Ismail to his brother’s apartment in Islington following their meeting in King’s Cross, London, in March of the previous year.
Prosecutor Dorian Lovell-Pank QC stated that Archer, unemployed and from Poole, Dorset, paid her £20 for sex, and they subsequently used crack cocaine together.
Archer claimed that he acted in self-defence when she attacked him with a knife and demanded £150, which he had received from benefits.
However, the court determined that Archer murdered her with a crowbar and then placed her body inside a holdall.
Judge Giles Forrester sentenced Archer to life imprisonment, with the minimum sentence to be decided on the upcoming Friday.
Authorities described Archer as a violent predator who targeted vulnerable women.
Evidence indicated that after the murder, Archer traveled to cities including Nottingham, Leeds, and Wakefield before returning to London, where he attempted to dispose of parts of her body.
The police investigation uncovered grim details of the murder and dismemberment, highlighting Archer’s manipulative and violent tendencies.
Detective Superintendent Maureen Boyle stated that Archer deliberately targeted women unlikely to report him and commended witnesses for their bravery in testifying against him.
