BIRMINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR 25 YEARS FOR BRUTAL WIFE MURDER INFLUENCED BY TV SHOW
A man named Damian Fincher was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Gabrielle Chapman, in Birmingham.The incident occurred at their residence in the Midlands, where Fincher stabbed Gabrielle 20 times.
Mrs Justice Nicola Davies described the attack as both terrifying and relentless, noting that the murder was carefully planned and carried out with cold calculation.
Fincher initially attempted to conceal his involvement by leaving his phone at his mother’s house to avoid suspicion, aware that a knife used in the attack was in the home.
He also tried to simulate a burglary scene by changing clothes and removing footprints, but the screams from the attack drew attention and resulted in his arrest.
Prosecutors pointed out that Fincher, aged 45, had a criminal record including a manslaughter conviction from 1993, indicating a history of violence.
The court heard that Fincher and Gabrielle’s troubled relationship had begun in 2005, with tensions escalating until their separation in June of the previous year.
His fascination with CSI shows was also highlighted, suggesting he used this knowledge to plan the murder and avoid detection.
Gabrielle’s father paid tribute, describing her as vibrant and cheerful, and expressed the sorrow felt by their family, emphasizing that they too have suffered a profound loss even as Fincher faces the prospect of a life sentence.
