PODIATRIST STRUCK OFF AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF SEXUAL OFFENCES
The HCPC, which registered Kooner as a podiatrist, was informed via email on 20 October 2020 that Kooner had been detained following an arrest but was released without any charges being filed.
Subsequently, Kooner faced a charge under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, related to an incident that occurred on 27 September 2020.
The case was heard multiple times but was not concluded until Kooner was ultimately found guilty of the offence.
The sentencing was postponed to a later date.
The court records indicated that Kooner was convicted on 20 October 2023 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and received a sentence on 23 February 2024.
The sentence consisted of a community payback order, a 24-month supervision period starting from 23 February 2024, and a five-year non-harassment order.
During the supervision period, Kooner will be required to fulfill the notification obligations under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2003, making him a registered sex offender from 23 February 2024 until 22 February 2026.
