AYR MAN DODGES JAIL AFTER STALKING EX THROUGH HER KITCHEN WINDOW
A man named Dale Jeffrey, residing in Renfrew, was involved in a series of harassing behaviors towards his ex partner in Ayr.The incidents began with Jeffrey phone her and make remarks indicating he was watching her, including sending her social media messages, phoning her family to make offensive comments, and making offensive gestures towards her.
The events spanned from November 2017 to February 2018, occurring at three different streets in Ayr.
Specifically, on November 1, Jeffrey called her on Facebook Messenger and made a remark about her smoking, implying he was watching from the back garden.
On January 31, she received another message, and on the following day, her brother received a Facebook call from Jeffrey, who used offensive language against her.
Additionally, the victim and her new partner saw Jeffrey at a bus stop and observed him passing by making offensive hand gestures.
Jeffrey appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court, where he was ordered to stay away from his ex partner.
He was placed on a community payback order for 12 months, supervised, and required to complete 80 hours of unpaid work over three years.
A non-harassment order was also issued for 12 months, prohibiting him from approaching, contacting, or communicating with his ex partner in any way through social media.
The sheriff acknowledged Jeffrey’s recollection of his actions as foolish but emphasized the court's concern about his previous record and the seriousness of his behavior, noting that a custodial sentence was being considered, but Jeffrey was remanded with an alternative order instead.
