Update 28-04-2026 A convicted stalker who turned up at his ex-partner’s home armed with a meat cleaver and threatening to “chop off” her arm has been jailed after launching a violent midnight attack in breach of a restraining order.Police received a string of calls reporting a disturbance coming from an address in the Newburn area of Newcastle, just into the early hours of Saturday November 1, last year.
It was understood a woman was shouting for help after a man had entered the property carrying a weapon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- A Newcastle man is facing jail after threatening to kill his former partner following the breakdown of their relationship.
Dale Gordon, 33, of Red Barns, Shieldfield, sent a string of abusive messages to the woman on Sunday, September 21, including one saying: “You dirty s***, when I get out, I’m getting straight on a bus to yours and I’m ending you.” He also threatened to smash her windows, which were later damaged – although there is no evidence he was responsible.
The victim reported the threats to police, and Gordon was arrested within 24 hours.
At Newcastle Magistrates’ Court, Gordon pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and threats to cause damage.
Prosecutor Paul Anderson said Gordon became enraged after the woman ended their relationship.
Defence solicitor Andy O’Hanlon explained that Gordon’s mental health deteriorated when he was with his ex-partner, and argued he now needed to stay away from her.
District Judge Paul Currer adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports.
Gordon was released on conditional bail but was warned he faces a likely custodial sentence when he returns to court next month.
