DALE BURNS FROM PERTH: VIOLENT OFFENDER WITH A TROUBLED PAST GETS SECOND CHANCE IN COURT
Dale Burns, a 21-year-old man with a long history of criminal behavior and multiple convictions, recently appeared in a Perth court to face charges related to his ongoing breaches of court orders.Burns has been known for a pattern of violent and threatening conduct, including assaults, threats against police officers, and disturbing behavior involving children.
His criminal record is extensive, with previous incidents that include a brutal attack on a schoolboy in November 2010 while intoxicated with Buckfast, as well as threats made towards law enforcement officials and violent outbursts at his residence.
Despite his history of serious offenses, Burns has repeatedly avoided incarceration.
Notably, in 2012, he was accused of assault and other behavioral issues but was still spared jail time.
His past also includes drink-driving, which further contributed to concerns about his conduct behind the wheel.
Additionally, Burns was once funded for a Tall Ships adventure in Scotland, despite having ignored court orders for two years, a decision that sparked political controversy and public debate about judicial leniency.
Most recently, Burns was involved in a court case in Perth where he was found to have breached a community payback order.
The court, presided over by Perth sheriff William Wood, considered whether to impose further sanctions or give Burns another opportunity to comply.
Despite his failure to complete unpaid work related to fines and his neglect of drug and alcohol treatment programs, Sheriff Wood decided to give Burns a second chance.
During the hearing, Burns appeared in court with a smile on his face and openly called the sheriff a 'legend' after being granted permission to walk free once again.
The sheriff explained that Burns had not fulfilled the conditions of his community order but emphasized that support was available to help him improve his circumstances.
Burns responded to the court's leniency with a nonchalant remark, saying, 'I’ll try to comply but I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment.' The court was aware of his difficulties but warned him that continued failure to adhere to court orders could lead to more severe consequences, including jail.
The case was adjourned until April 8, with Burns admitting to breaching the community order.
His history of threatening police, assault, and violent conduct remains a concern, and the court highlighted the importance of him taking responsibility for his actions and engaging with the support systems available to him.
Despite the warnings, Burns was given a final opportunity to meet the conditions of his community order, with the court emphasizing the importance of compliance to avoid further legal repercussions.
