DUBAI HARASSER CYNTHIA CHIA FACES WARRANT AFTER COURT NO-SHOW
A woman named Cynthia Chia, aged 38, has been ordered to pay £25,000 in damages after being found guilty of a prolonged campaign of harassment and false accusations against Dubai-based energy trader Idowu Ogunkanmi, aged 44.
The High Court established that Chia had launched a malicious, relentless, and vindictive harassment campaign that lasted nearly nine years.
She falsely claimed he drugged and raped her, bribed police officers to destroy evidence, and made numerous defamatory online posts accusing him of being a rapist and of serious misconduct.
Despite being ordered to attend court over breaches of a restraining order, Chia failed to appear, leading to a warrant for her arrest.
The court also confirmed that her posts were entirely false, malicious, and were made with intent to harm his reputation.
The judge emphasized that the allegations against Ogunkanmi were baseless and that she had posted over several years on platforms like Instagram and Twitter, sharing images and false accusations.
Chia was convicted of common assault in February and received a sentence of ten weeks in prison, along with a five-year restraining order.
The court ruled that injunctive relief was necessary to protect Ogunkanmi's reputation and private life.
