CRAIG MCGYLLYN'S BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE IN GLASGOW: 13 OFFENSES INCLUDING RAPE CONVICTED
Craig McGlynn, also known by the alias Gallacher, has been found guilty of a series of serious criminal acts involving domestic abuse against five women across central Scotland, with his crimes spanning nearly a decade from 2009 to 2018. The conviction encompasses a total of 13 separate offences, among which are particularly grave charges such as six counts of rape, highlighting the severity of his actions. His criminal conduct was uncovered through a comprehensive investigation carried out by Police Scotland’s Domestic Abuse Task Force. The inquiry was initiated following an incident that took place in Glasgow in December 2017, which ultimately led to McGlynn’s arrest. The investigation was meticulous and thorough, reflecting the police’s dedication to addressing domestic violence cases, regardless of how much time had passed since the offences occurred.
In March 2020, Craig McGlynn was brought before the High Court in Glasgow, where he was formally convicted of the charges against him. The court sentenced him to a lifelong conditions order, known as an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR), which mandates ongoing supervision and restrictions should he ever be released from prison. Additionally, he received a minimum custodial sentence of five years and four months, though he remains eligible for parole in the future.
The lifelong order signifies the authorities’ intent to monitor McGlynn continuously, given the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to society. Detective Inspector Steven McMillan, who was involved in the case, underscored the police’s unwavering commitment to pursuing justice for victims of domestic abuse, regardless of when the incidents took place. He also urged victims or anyone who might be aware of victims to come forward and seek assistance, emphasizing that support is available and that no one should suffer in silence.
