SEX ATTACKER FLAGGED DOWN POLICE CAR TO CONFESS TO BEING A PAEDOPHILE
Craig McAvoy today admitted at the High Court in Glasgow to the abuse of four children in the city between 2014 and 2025.The crimes first came to light when a girl told someone at her school in February this year that the 33 year-old had done "weird things" to her.
The child's father soon became aware and he confronted McAvoy in a phone call.
Prosecutor Greg Farrell told the court: "McAvoy appeared to be panicking and replied: 'I am sorry.
I have done wrong'." "Asked whether he had harmed any other children, he stated: 'I cannot tell you that.
My life is over'." Police were on patrol in the city's Nitshill Road that same night when McAvoy stopped their vehicle.
He told them: "I have to confess to a sexual assault." McAvoy, of Pollok, Glasgow, initially admitted abusing one of the children claiming he was "choosing to face it rather than run away".
He then "spoke freely" about preying on that youngster and another girl.
Probed again about other children, McAvoy said he "would not comment at this stage".
But, the court was told he went on to admit to also abusing two young boys.
McAvoy also appeared to use his mobile phone to take photos and/or videos during the attacks.
The pervert often held his head in his hands as he sat in the dock while Mr Farrell detailed his crimes today.
First-offender McAvoy pled guilty to a total of seven sex charges including the rape and attempted rape of one of the children.
He had his remand in custody continued as sentencing was adjourned until January 20 in Livingston.
Lord Mulholland told him: "Be under no illusion, this is a very serious matter.
You were an adult at the time and the abuse was gross.
You will be receiving a lengthy sentence of imprisonment." The judge also asked for further checks to be made for any electronic devices McAvoy may have stored the sick photos and videos on.
