ROTHERHAM MAN CRAIG ELLIOTT-WALKER SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS FOR ONLINE SEXUAL OFFENSES
A man from Rotherham has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after engaging in a disturbing scheme to exploit a minor through online messaging.Craig Elliott-Walker, age 42, of Brampton Avenue, Thurcroft, was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday for creating a fictitious social media profile under a pseudonym and initiating contact with a teenage girl.
The incident has had a significant emotional impact on the victim, who described her life as profoundly affected.
Elliott-Walker started his deception in August 2018 by setting up a fake account using a different alias and began conversing with the teenager.
During their exchanges, he shared photographs of a young man in underwear and requested topless images from her.
His actions were uncovered in September 2018, leading to his arrest.
A victim impact statement was read aloud in court, revealing the emotional toll the incident has taken.
The victim stated, "I sit in my room alone.
It's extremely difficult to trust anyone, especially men," and added that she has had to leave college due to the ongoing effects.
Elliott-Walker pleaded guilty to charges of sexual communication with a child.
His Honour Judge Peter Kelson sentenced him to 14 years in prison and imposed a sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Kelson described the defendant’s behavior as "entirely repulsive," noting, "You left a trail of wreckage behind you and you have no idea how bad it is."
