MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND THREATENING POLICE WITH RACIAL AND SEXUAL ABUSE
A man named Connor McInearney was involved in a violent incident where he struck his partner in the face, causing bruising to her eye and a cut on her nose.The offense occurred at a residence in Kingussie on September 10 of the previous year during an argument.
When police arrived to arrest him, McInearney continued his aggressive behavior by making racial slurs, uttering threats to kill the officers and their families, and making a shocking sexual threat towards a police officer's grandchild.
Specifically, he said he would threaten to sexually assault the officer's grandchild.
McInearney, aged 25 and with no fixed address, previously pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury, threatening or abusive behavior, and breaching bail conditions.
His actions led to his appearance in Inverness Sheriff Court via video link, where he was sentenced to nine months in prison, backdated to January 17.
Additionally, a two-year non-harassment order was imposed, restricting him from contacting his former partner.
The court was informed by the prosecution that the incident was triggered by an argument in Kingussie, with the woman suffering injuries such as bruising and bleeding.
Despite his claims that alcohol and reflection influenced his behavior, the sheriff emphasized that provocation was no excuse, resulting in the custodial sentence.
The incident highlights the severity of domestic violence and threatening behaviors, with the court taking strict action to prevent further contact and ensure safety.
