GLASGOW MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ONLINE GROOMING OF DECOY
A man identified as Connor Gordon was caught engaging in online conversations with a decoy posing as a 12-year-old girl.According to the report, Gordon, aged 42 and resident of Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, was communicating with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl from Aberdeen on the dating platform Plenty of Fish.
During their interactions between September and November 2022, he sent explicit images of himself and requested similar pictures from the decoy, who was actually an adult posing as a minor.
Gordon made inappropriate comments about teaching the girl how to kiss and even arranged to meet her in Glasgow.
He acknowledged her age in messages, claiming he would ‘help’ her, and sent an intimate picture with the message: ‘Maybe one day you will see it in the flesh.’ He also requested a naked picture from her and sent images of adult women on beds, asking her to re-enact them.
Gordon asked if she had kissed a boy and indicated he could show her sometime, warning her not to tell anyone.
The decoy's responses and actions led to vigilantes confronting Gordon, livestreaming the incident on Facebook, which prompted his arrest.
Gordon pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to attempting to cause a child to view a sexual image, attempting to communicate indecently with a child, and intending to engage in unlawful sexual behaviour with a child or in the presence of one.
His sentence has been deferred pending background reports, and he remains on bail while complying with sex offenders requirements.
