CONNOR COUCH FROM FALMOUTH BREACHES SEX OFFENDER ORDER IN DEVON

In May 2019, a serious breach of a court-ordered condition involving a sex offender from Falmouth was reported.

Connor Couch, aged 23 and residing on Pellew Road in Falmouth, failed to comply with the legal requirement to inform the court of a change in his residential address within the stipulated timeframe.

According to court records, Couch did not notify authorities of his new address between April 16 and April 23.

This omission was a direct violation of Section 80 of the Sex Offences Act 2003, which mandates that any individual subject to a sex offender order must report any change of address within three days of moving.

Such breaches are taken very seriously by the courts, as they undermine the measures put in place to monitor and manage offenders' whereabouts.

Despite the breach, Couch was subject to a community order that included electronic monitoring for a period of six months, along with a curfew requirement to ensure he remained within designated hours and locations.

In addition to the community supervision, Couch was ordered to pay costs amounting to £85, as well as a victim surcharge of the same amount.

These penalties are part of the court's efforts to enforce compliance and uphold the integrity of the legal restrictions placed on sex offenders in the community.
