POLICE OFFICER COLIN NOBLE DISMISSED FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIMS
A West Midlands Police officer has been dismissed for gross misconduct after attempting to exploit vulnerable domestic abuse victims through inappropriate behavior.PC Colin Noble, who served for two decades, was found to have made sexual comments and advances towards four women who had experienced domestic abuse.
During a misconduct hearing, it was revealed that Noble suggested one woman should 'unbutton' her shirt to reveal her breasts and asked if she had any nude photos.
He claimed his comments about her being 'fit' were meant to build rapport, but she secretly recorded his behavior after feeling uncomfortable.
The force explained that Noble would visit and call one of the women without any official reason, sometimes up to 30 times unannounced.
These conversations and testimony from three other women with similar complaints were reviewed over a six-day disciplinary process.
The women came forward following publicity from Noble’s 2019 criminal trial, in which he was acquitted of misconduct related to these allegations.
Evidence showed Noble made inappropriate remarks, touched a woman’s neck, and asked about her tattoos, including those on her thighs, and whether she had slept with a black man.
The victim said his words made her feel “weird and sick.” Another woman described a semi-relationship with him, where he kept trying to contact her despite warnings, while another noted his persistence felt similar to her ex’s pressure tactics, leading her to lie about moving away to avoid him.
The tribunal concluded there was strong evidence of Noble using sexualized language and making inappropriate suggestions.
Despite his long record of service, the tribunal determined the severity of his misconduct warranted immediate dismissal without notice.
Deputy Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine condemned Noble’s actions, stating he does not represent the police force’s values of protection and support.
She confirmed her satisfaction with his dismissal and assured the public that the force is dedicated to eliminating such conduct.
Noble has the right to appeal his dismissal.
