On May 30, a man from Whitehaven, Clive Hornsby, was formally sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious child sex offences.

The court also ordered Hornsby to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

Clive Hornsby, aged 61 and residing on Solway Road in Whitehaven, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court to face charges related to his inappropriate and criminal conduct involving a minor.

The charges included gross indecency with a boy, two counts of indecent assault on a boy, and inciting a boy over the age of 18 to engage in sexual activity.

These offences spanned a period from 2002 to 2006, indicating a pattern of misconduct over several years.

The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about Hornsby's actions, which have caused significant harm to the victim.

The judge emphasized the gravity of the offences, which involved abuse of trust and exploitation of a vulnerable young person.
