FORMER INVERNESS JANITOR JAILED AFTER CHILD GROOMING CONVICTION
A former ‘janitor’ at Millburn Academy has been jailed after being snared by a vigilante group following communication with a girl he believed to be 14 years old.
Christopher Stevenson (53) added ‘Melissa Wilson’ on Facebook on April 5, 2025, and began messaging her, but it was an undercover worker for The Underworld, a child protection group.
The messages became sexual and explicit images were exchanged, with Stevenson asking about her age and making sexual comments about her private parts.
He also sent a fully clothed image of a girl and requested a 'sexy' photo.
The group gathered evidence and passed it to authorities.
When police raided his home in Polvanie View, Stevenson admitted to the communication, which occurred between April 5 and 7, 2023.
He claimed it was a 'stupid mistake' influenced by alcohol and isolation.
Sheriff Sara Matheson sentenced him to 12 months in prison and placed him on the Sex Offenders’ Register for four years.
Detective Constable Natasha MacKenzie commented on the sentencing and encouraged public vigilance and reporting.
