BUCKIE MAN SUBJECTED EX TO 18 MONTHS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
A Buckie man who subjected his former girlfriend to an 18-month campaign of domestic abuse has been sentenced.
Christopher Steel, 23, accused his ex of cheating, called her names, and even attacked her, including incidents when she was heavily pregnant.
Court details revealed Steel's behaviour included derogatory remarks, high-speed driving to intimidate her, monitoring her via Snapchat during holidays, and physically assaulting her by punching her arm and biting her on the bicep.
The court noted his actions could have led to jail.
Instead, Steel was given a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work, supervised probation, and ordered to attend the 'Moving Forward Making Changes' program.
He was also barred from contacting his former partner for two years.
The court recognized the seriousness of the conduct, acknowledging the potential for a custodial sentence.
