COVENTRY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND
The offender, Christopher Scott-Horscroft, a 23-year-old man from Coventry, has a long history of violent behavior towards women.Recently, he was jailed for assaulting his current girlfriend by pushing her down the stairs, kicking her, and grabbing her by the throat, causing her to fear for her life.
The incident took place around Christmas time when he demanded money, became angry when refused, and physically assaulted her in her own home.
Prosecutor Ian Speed detailed that Scott-Horscroft pushed his girlfriend causing her to fall down the stairs, then kicked her, and nearly choked her.
When she attempted to call the police, he took away her phone and left with her daughter's pushbike.
Scott-Horscroft was recognized by police and arrested the following day when they found him during an unrelated incident.
He had a small bag of cocaine on him, and chose to remain silent during arrest.
Court records show he has 14 prior convictions for 23 offences, including attacking a previous pregnant girlfriend in 2012.
He had previously been sentenced to 18 months for robbery in 2015 and caused grievous bodily harm to another inmate in 2016, resulting in a suspended sentence.
In court, his defense acknowledged that alcohol and drugs contributed to his behavior.
The judge described his past violent behavior and sentenced him to ten months in prison, to run consecutively with a previous 8-month suspended sentence, which he was ordered to serve in full.
The judge emphasized his criminal history, including serious assaults and breaching previous court orders, and stated that his behavior was part of a pattern of violence towards women.
Overall, Scott-Horscroft was found guilty of assault and theft, and received a custodial sentence for his latest offenses.
