CEMETERY WORKER SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR BRUTAL SEXUAL ASSAULT IN SLOUGH
A cemetery worker at Slough Cemetery, Christopher Rode, who was 30 years old, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a brutal sexual assault.
He was convicted of raping a woman while she was mourning her deceased son at the cemetery.
Rode had 12 previous convictions and was out on licence for assault when he committed the attack.
The court heard he raped the woman and attacked her with a brass object, striking her repeatedly in the face.
The judge, John Reddihough, stated: “You set upon her and attacked her with a brass object and struck her repeatedly in the face.
Having used that dreadful violence you then raped her anally putting her in great fear that you were going to kill her.
It’s hard to think of a more frightening ordeal for a woman to go through.” Rode was sentenced to serve 14 years and eight months before he could be considered for release.
Detective Inspector Stuart Brangwin commented that the attack was a truly dreadful crime that shocked the community.
Rode admitted his actions and was sentenced to life, with the police investigation described as swift and efficient.
