SLOUGH WOMAN LEFT HER PET DOG TO SUFFER FOR THREE WEEKS
Police, the RSPCA and Slough Borough Council officials attended Williamson’s address on May 24, 2024, in response to reports of a dog being left unattended.Finding the council property abandoned, officers forced entry and discovered Cane Corso Stormi inside surrounded by faeces and piles of rubbish.
There was also a build-up of older dog mess in the property’s garden.
Stormi was immediately taken to the vet where tests revealed she was suffering from severe malnutrition and weighed less than half her ideal body weight.
The vet said the dog’s emaciated condition was purely down to a lack of food.
She was seized under animal welfare legislation and an investigation was launched.
During interview, Williamson stated that Stormi, whose ears had been cruelly cropped, was purchased in 2020 for £2,000.
She said the dog had been imported from Romania, and provided documentation to confirm this.
Williamson told officers she had moved out of the property with her children “due to family issues” and was living with relatives around 10 minutes’ walk away.
She claimed she had paid another person to look after her pet but refused to provide details.
She admitted that she had failed to check how Stormi was doing despite living nearby.
The council had previously had to intervene in late 2020 due to complaints about dog noise, the dog’s living conditions and the condition of the property’s rear garden.
Williamson pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering and a failure of duty of care under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
After a period of rehabilitation and care, Stormi made a full recovery and was rehomed.
