DRUNK MAN BLOWS KISSES IN COURT BEFORE JAIL FOR STREET GROPING
A man identified as Christopher Michael Jones, arrived at Mold crown court in a custody van and was observed blowing kisses to photographers.
The court heard he was responsible for an unsettling and drunken sexual assault that left his female victim shaken.
Jones had approached a woman who was talking to another man in the street, initially hugging her and giving her a kiss.
However, CCTV footage presented during the proceedings revealed her body language changed as Jones persisted to kiss her on the neck and touch her bottom, despite her attempts to fend him off.
The victim later expressed feeling Jones' hand inside her jeans, though Jones denied this.
He had previously pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea to guilty based on the CCTV evidence.
During his arrest, Jones admitted he had been drinking with friends but initially denied any wrongdoing.
The court was told that if Jones had touched the woman beneath her clothing, she would have faced a harsher sentence.
Judge Rhys Rowlands sentenced Jones to nine weeks in prison, to be served concurrently with his ongoing sentence, and ordered registration on the sex offender register for seven years alongside a two-year restraining order banning him from approaching the victim.
Jones had a criminal record, but notably, it was not of a sexual nature.
The judge emphasized that had Jones physically assaulted the woman under her clothing, the penalty would have been more severe.
