A man has received a 29-year prison sentence after being convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving five victims, three of whom were children.

Christopher Johnson, aged 41 and residing on Dunvegan Road in Birmingham, was sentenced on Friday, 17 January 2025, at Birmingham Crown Court.

His convictions include five counts of rape, three counts of creating indecent images of minors, two counts of assaulting a child under 13 through penetration, two counts of penetration during assault, one count of encouraging a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts, one count of attempted rape, as well as charges of sexual assault and voyeurism.

Johnson had previously been found guilty at the same court on 18 June 2024.

The court heard that Johnson targeted three victims while they were sleeping, sexually assaulting them as they awoke.

In one instance, he raped a woman who was asleep, claiming he was unable to control his actions as he was also asleep.

He attacked a second woman similarly during sleep, asserting he was searching for his glasses, and also digitally penetrated another sleeping victim.

His youngest victim was only eight years old at the time of her assault.

The crimes span a period from January 1, 2012, to November 1, 2023.

His criminal activities were uncovered in August 2023, following his arrest for filming a young girl in a bathroom cubicle at a local swimming pool.

Cagin Husnu from the Crown Prosecution Service described Johnson as a dangerous individual who exploited vulnerable victims for his own perverted satisfaction.

Husnu emphasized that Johnson likely would have continued his offending if not for his arrest, showing no regard for the victims' dignity or wellbeing.

He added that, thanks to a brave child who alerted her caregivers about Johnson recording her while changing at the pool, police were able to arrest him.

After Johnson’s detention, more victims, including two young children, came forward to report sexual abuse they had suffered at his hands.
