GATESHEAD MAN SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT LEADING TO LIFELONG INJURIES
A man named Christopher Jackson, aged 38, was involved in a brutal assault on his ex-girlfriend, leaving her with horrific injuries.
Jackson had previously served eight weeks in jail for an earlier attack on the same victim and was subject to a 12-month restraining order that prohibited contact with her or entering her street.
However, just three weeks after the restraining order expired, Jackson returned to the victim's home.
When she refused to see him, he launched a savage attack, punching, kicking, and stamping on her until she lost consciousness.
During the assault, he bit off part of her ear, which police confirmed was caused by his teeth, leaving her with lifelong scars and trauma.
The victim managed to silently call 999 during the attack, leading police to arrest Jackson.
He was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to seven years and four months in prison at Newcastle Crown Court.
Jackson's attack was described by investigating officer Detective Constable Darren Davies as a 'brutal and cowardly attack by a man who was far stronger than his victim and used that power to inflict horrific injuries upon her.' The judge's sentence reflected the seriousness of his crimes, with Jackson being recognized as a 'violent thug' who deserved to be behind bars.
