CHRISTOPHER HARRIS SENTENCED IN TRURO FOR VIOLENT ASSAULT ON PARTNER

A woman suffered serious injuries, including a fractured neck and head trauma, after her violent boyfriend, Christopher Harris, forcefully threw her down concrete steps outside her home following an argument. The incident took place on August 25, 2023, after Harris and his partner had been drinking at a pub. On their way back, Harris became enraged when she was slow to exit the car. He exited the vehicle, grabbed her, and threw her down three concrete steps, resulting in heavy bleeding from a head wound and neck pain. Despite her injuries and bleeding, Harris left the scene without assisting her or calling emergency services.

A neighbor witnessing the assault called emergency services. Harris's partner initially declined hospital treatment but later returned for scans that confirmed a neck fracture. Harris was arrested and pleaded guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm. During sentencing at Truro Crown Court, the judge condemned his actions, describing him as a "coward" and highlighting that such violence often targets women. Harris was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to complete rehabilitation and adhere to a curfew. The court acknowledged Harris's remorse and absence of previous convictions but condemned the violent nature of the attack and his failure to seek help afterward.
