RHYL SEX OFFENDER SPARED JAIL AFTER BREACHING ALCOHOL ABSTINENCE ORDER
A CONVICTED sex offender from Rhyl has been spared an immediate jail term despite breaching the terms of his suspended custodial sentence order.Christopher Foulds, aged 33, of Cae Gruffydd, was sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, last October for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Foulds had used the social media platform Kik to send explicit messages to what he thought was a 12-year-old girl, but who was, in fact, a decoy.
He was also ordered to complete a 120-day electronically monitored alcohol abstinence period, and 80 hours’ unpaid work.
In addition, Foulds was to comply with a 35-day programme requirement, and 30 days’ rehabilitation activity requirements.
But at Mold Crown Court today (February 16), Foulds admitted that he failed to abide by the order as he had consumed alcohol.
Brett Williamson, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant had been involved in a “high-level drinking event” on December 30, 2023.
But the court heard Foulds was said to have otherwise been doing well in completing the order’s requirements.
Judge Niclas Perry, presiding over the hearing, refrained from activating Foulds’ suspended sentence, but extended the programme requirement by 20 days.
“You’re doing well on the order, so get on with it,” he told Foulds.
