A 37-year-old man from Inverness, Christopher Crombie, was found guilty of threatening behaviour and wilfully or recklessly damaging property following a domestic dispute with his partner.
During the argument he grabbed a knife and threatened self-harm, later banging on the door while still holding it when locked out.
He also threw a champagne glass at her, cutting her finger, and damaged a door during a separate episode.
The Sheriff ordered him to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work, pay his partner £500 compensation for the fear and alarm caused, and imposed an 18-month non-harassment order.
