ABUSIVE MAN BATTERED FORMER PARTNER AND THREATED HIS OWN MUM WITH A KNIFE
A man responsible for violence against his ex-partner and for threatening his mother and stepfather with a knife has been sentenced to prison.Christopher Campbell pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive conduct.
He also admitted to threatening his mother and stepfather with a blade, as well as wounding one of them.
At Mold Crown Court this week, the 32-year-old was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
According to North Wales Live, Campbell’s pattern of abuse toward his former partner lasted for a year, involving both verbal and physical assaults aimed at controlling her.
During the sentencing hearing on Wednesday, November 5, North Wales Police described the case as 'upsetting and terrifying.' Campbell was accused of isolating his victim from friends and family, becoming abusive if she did not answer her phone immediately, and making threats to kill her, alongside physical attacks.
In one incident, he pointed a knife at her throat after attacking her at her home.
He later threatened his mother with the same weapon by holding it to her throat, following an incident in February this year.
Prior to his arrest, Campbell had sliced his stepfather’s wrist with the same knife.
Following his arrest, he was remanded in custody and was issued two restraining orders for ten years each, to protect his mother and stepfather.
District Inspector Rhodri Ifans commented: "All three victims were subjected to Campbell's abusive, violent and intimidating behaviour, and were incredibly brave in speaking out.
"We continue to act on any report of domestic violence and of controlling and coercive behaviour and we will not stop in our efforts to bring perpetrators of abuse to justice.
"I hope that following Campbell's sentencing, the victims can begin to move on from this upsetting and terrifying experience."
