STIRLING MAN CHRISTOPHER ANDREW HENDRY PLEADS GUILTY TO VIOLENT OUTBURST AND THREATS IN STIRLING
Christopher Andrew Hendry, aged 41, appeared before Stirling Sheriff Court to face serious charges related to his conduct during a distressing family incident. Hendry pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening and abusive behavior, as well as a charge of physically assaulting his 21-year-old daughter, Louise, by slapping her during a violent outburst. The court proceedings shed light on a tumultuous episode rooted in familial tensions and personal conflicts.According to court records, Hendry, who is a father of ten children, had recently been involved in an extramarital affair that resulted in a pregnancy. This revelation appeared to have exacerbated existing tensions within his family. Hendry reportedly told his son that the woman involved in the affair was planning to have an abortion, adding to the emotional strain. The court also noted that Hendry had previously made inflammatory remarks, including a rant where he declared, “All Catholics are w***ers and unforgiving b******s,” which highlighted his tendency toward provocative and potentially sectarian language.
The incident unfolded at the family home on Wordie Road in Stirling. It began when Hendry became visibly annoyed after his wife, Sophie, left for the gym. During this time, their young baby son fell and bumped his head, which further heightened the tension. Hendry accused his wife of not being present to care for the children and expressed his anger through shouting and swearing. Louise, his daughter, attempted to comfort and tend to her younger sibling, but Hendry followed her into the laundry room, where he continued to shout directly in her face. When Louise tried to distance herself, Hendry responded by slapping her across the face, an act that left her visibly upset.
At this point, their 15-year-old brother intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Hendry, however, dismissed his son's efforts and told him to stop defending his sister. The family’s turmoil did not end there. Following a separation from his wife, Hendry’s conflicts escalated further. When Sophie decided to take their children to Italy, Hendry argued vehemently, demanding their passports and threatening to burn them if she left. His verbal abuse extended to his older sons as well, whom he called derogatory names such as “w***r” and “c***,” while claiming that his mistress was pregnant and that she intended to have an abortion. These accusations and threats caused significant distress among the children, prompting them to leave the family home with their mother after she returned.
Law enforcement officials eventually located Hendry at his brother’s residence in Tullibody. During the court hearing, Hendry’s solicitor explained that the family tensions stemmed from issues of infidelity and that Hendry, who is a practicing Catholic, did not intend for his remarks to be racist or sectarian in nature. Despite this explanation, Sheriff Wyllie Robertson emphasized the seriousness of Hendry’s behavior, describing it as unacceptable. As a result, the court sentenced Hendry to a community payback order, which includes supervision for a period of eight months and the requirement to complete 100 hours of unpaid work within six months, aiming to promote accountability and rehabilitation.
