Chelsea Parker, aged 24, received a sentence of eight weeks in prison, which was suspended for a period of 12 months, during a hearing at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14th April.
She pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to two cats and a kitten by neglecting their basic needs, including providing sufficient drinking water.
Additionally, she was ordered to complete 30 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
The condition of the animals was discovered during a routine gas safety inspection at a property in Hertford.
Court reports indicated that the property was in a state of extreme clutter, with a hallway cluttered with unopened correspondence.
The living area was unhygienic, contaminated with cat faeces and emitting a strong ammonia smell, and notably lacked food and water for the animals.
Authorities found the remains of three cats at the scene; one was missing its eyes, and another had decomposed to a skull with leathery tissue still attached.
