BROTHERS BANNED FROM KEEPING PETS AFTER DOGS FOUND STARVING
Two brothers have been banned from keeping animals for ten years after RSPCA officers found two dogs starving, flea infested and living in squalor.
Charles Arnot and David Simons, both of Hotchpudding Lane, in Newcastle, admitted two offences under the Animal Welfare Act after German Shepherd Tyson and Husky Aurora were discovered severely underweight and untreated.
The court heard RSPCA Inspector Rachael Hurst was called to the home on May 23 after a report to the cruelty line.
Inside, the dogs were found in a filthy environment, with Tyson and Aurora running out from the living room.
Tyson, a German Shepherd, was found to have a sloped posture with visible hips, spine, and ribs.
Aurora, a Husky, was covered in faeces, dirt, and fleas, with overlong nails.
Both animals were seized for urgent treatment; Tyson weighed just 30 kg with a body score of 1.5 out of 9, and Aurora weighed 11.9 kg with a score of 2 out of 9.
Neither had been seen by a vet.
Both have since been rehomed.
The offenders received a 12-month community order, 100 hours of unpaid work, 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days, and were banned from keeping animals for ten years.
They were also ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.
