PETS LEFT WITH NO FOOD OR WATER AS CASTLEMILK OWNER WENT ON HOLIDAY
A woman left her home in Glasgow's Castlemilk for a holiday in Blackpool, during which she neglected her three dogs and a cat for two days, failing to provide them with food or water. The pets were discovered after authorities gained entry to her residence in July 2025.
Stewart, aged 37, admitted guilt in Glasgow Sheriff Court to three charges under the Animal Welfare Act.
Animal inspectors reported that her home was in a poor state, emitting an ammonia smell, with no food available.
The only water present was in a mop bucket, which some of the animals could not access.
A 14-year-old Pomeranian chihuahua named Tasha was found in poor health, without being registered with a veterinarian, and was believed to have been suffering for approximately two months.
Stewart initially claimed her sister was looking after the animals, but her sister denied this.
The court was told that the animals faced serious risks of dehydration and worsening health.
Stewart's sentencing was postponed pending background investigations, and her bail was extended.
