COVENTRY OFFENDER CARLOS CRISTO JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PROSTITUTES
Carlos Cristo, aged 41, was convicted of a brutal assault on a prostitute in Coventry. He admitted to the attack, which was captured on CCTV in the car park of St Bartholomew’s Church in Binley.
During the incident, which lasted nearly six minutes, Cristo repeatedly punched and kicked his victim, a woman in her early 20s, and attempted to forcibly drag her back into his car.
The victim recounted that she initially agreed to a sex work arrangement after a negotiation over the price, but the situation escalated tremendously.
She described how Cristo pulled a USB cable around her neck during their encounter, attempting to strangle her.
Despite her struggle, she managed to escape after she was bundled into the back of his vehicle against her will.
Cristo then drove her around Coventry, trying to intimidate her and threatening her life, claiming he had a knife though she never saw it.
The woman managed to free herself and was later taken to a hospital by passing motorists after her escape.
Cristo, after losing his temper during the assault, accepted that he had assaulted her but denied trying to strangulate her with the cable, claiming she had stolen his phone.
His explanation was rejected by the court, which found evidence including four cables and a knife in his car at arrest.
Cristo was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for his assault, reflecting the severity of his actions and the threat he posed.
