LONDON MAN JAILED FOR LIFE OVER DOUBLE DOMESTIC MURDER
At 66 years old, Carl Cooper was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of Naomi Hunte and Fiona Holm.
Naomi Hunte, 41, was killed by stabbing in her south-east London home on Valentine's Day in 2022.
Fiona Holm, aged 48, is deemed to have died around June 20, 2023, although her body has not been recovered.
Both women had been in relationships with Cooper at different times, approximately a year apart, and each had reported his violence to police authorities.
A review of the investigation noted that more diligent inquiries could have identified important witnesses and collected evidence that might have led to earlier criminal charges.
Despite being arrested following an attack on Holm in April 2023, Cooper was not charged at that point.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that he had a history of controlling and coercive behaviour towards women and was considered a 'dangerous, violent domestic abuser.' The judge handed down a life sentence, acknowledging the dangerous nature of his past conduct and the threat he posed to women over the years.
