PERVERT MARTIAL ARTS COACH JAILED AFTER SEXUALLY ASSAULTING SCHOOLBOY IN NEWCASTLE

A disgraced martial arts coach is behind bars after he sexually assaulted a schoolboy on Tyneside.

Respected Cameron Sherlock proved he had a secret sinister side when he targeted the youngster, touching him on his naked thigh, stomach, chest and bottom.

A court heard the 26-year-old groomed and assaulted the victim and sent him inappropriate messages, a court was told.

The pervert was finally caught out when the boy's father found the phone messages and questioned his son, prompting him to reveal what Sherlock had done to him.

Sherlock, of Ballmalloch Road, in Glasgow, was arrested but denied any wrongdoing.

Sherlock has now been jailed for 21 months, must sign the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years and has been made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order for the same period.

The court heard that Sherlock's offending was finally revealed when the victim's father found messages from him on his son's phone and the boy told him what had happened.

Fiona Lamb, defending, said Sherlock continued to deny the charges but handed the judge a number of positive character references.
