METHIL MEN DRUGGED, RAPED, AND KILLED YOUNG FATHER IN HORRIFIC ATTACK
Two men who drugged, raped, and murdered a young father of four have been sentenced to life imprisonment.Dylan Brister and Cameron Allan forcibly spiked Calum Simpson's drink with Etizolam, a potent sedative, and bound his wrists with rope inside a flat in Methil.
They proceeded to film their 'depraved' assault on a mobile phone.
Mr Simpson, aged 24 and a recent father, later died from intoxication caused by the combined effects of the drug and alcohol.
The court heard that Brister, 28, who admitted attacking two police officers and had previously purchased 1,000 Etizolam tablets, and Allan, 21, were guilty of sexual assault, rape, and murder.
The judge described their actions as causing 'terrible devastation' to Mr Simpson’s family, emphasizing the loss of important milestones in his children’s lives.
Brister was given a minimum of 23 years, and Allan received a 19-year sentence.
Both offenders were placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
During sentencing, Lord Harrower stated: 'There are so many milestones in the children’s lives that their father will no longer be able to share for reasons that cannot adequately be explained to them.' The court also highlighted their 'wicked recklessness,' which led to their convictions for murder, regardless of their intent to kill.
The investigation revealed that Brister had bought the drugs after winning over £20,000 from gambling and had previously spiked drinks of women without their consent.
The pair’s actions, including filming their assault, showed blatant disregard for Mr Simpson's life and safety, and their actions have been condemned as 'depraved and predatory.'
