EX-POLICE SERGEANT FINED FOR THREATENING WIFE AND THROWING FURNITURE
A former detective sergeant has been fined £700 after being involved in a late night bust-up with his police officer wife.Callum Peoples, 34, pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour by shouting and swearing and acting aggressively towards Monika Marciniak and throwing furniture around their home in Tweedbank last month.
Prosecutor Drew Long told Selkirk Sheriff Court that neighbours could hear shouting and swearing and Peoples making offensive comments to his wife and saw him throwing household items and furniture including a coffee table around a room.
He said: “In May 2016 I was promoted to detective sergeant within the CID leading a team of detectives.
It was during this time that a disagreement happened between myself and a detective chief inspector.
“I received a few commendations for my work.
The problems began when I took a uniformed sergeant role in Galashiels.” Callum claimed he was subject to routine mocking.
He said: “At one point they passed round a pic of a human having sex with an animal and claimed it was me.” After a move to East Lothian he quit the force, saying: “In my resignation letter, I cited institutionalised bullying but nobody contacted me.
An unblemished 14-year career was gone just like that.” “As far as the complaints I made, they said they had investigated them and found nothing wrong other than one officer passing my details on.
Nobody has been disciplined.”
