TWEEDBANK MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN GALASHIELS
A TWEEDBANK man who admitted biting his former partner on the nose during a domestic dispute has been jailed for eight months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Thirty-four-year-old Barry Kirsopp, of Carlin Court, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman and punching her on the head to her injury at a house in Meigle View, Galashiels, on Saturday (November 15).
Kirsopp also pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing, uttering threats of violence and attempting to bite a police constable and spitting in the rear of the police van on Meigle View and on Abbotsford Road, Galashiels, while en-route to Hawick Police Station.
In addition to the jail sentence, a 12-month non-harassment order was imposed preventing Kirsopp from having any contact with his former partner.
