TWEEDBANK MAN FINED FOR POISONING GIRLFRIEND'S PET FISH
Andrew Davidson, aged 25, engaged in a violent incident during which he poisoned his partner's pet fish by pouring pepper and washing-up liquid into their tank, resulting in the death of 20 fish.
The incident occurred at their home in Tweedbank on Hogmanay.
Davidson admitted to the court to having killed the fish intentionally to annoy his partner, stating: "I just killed her fish just to annoy her because she enjoyed having them." He also faced charges of assaulting his girlfriend, Amy Currie, by pushing her and throwing a glass.
Davidson pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, breaking a bottle of champagne, and killing the fish.
In court, Procurator Fiscal Graham Fraser mentioned that Davidson later sent a text to apologize for scaring Currie.
The judge fined Davidson £400 and ordered him to pay £100 in compensation for the fish.
It was noted that the couple has since separated.
