PERTH MUSICIAN FOUND GUILTY OF EXPOSING HIMSELF TO WOMEN IN HIS LIVING ROOM
A Perth musician named Callum Keys was found guilty by a sheriff of intentionally exposing himself to two women while he was in his living room. The court was told that Keys was seen strutting around his ground floor flat in the nude, with his arms behind his head, while he looked out at a mother and her daughter.
The daughter, a 20-year-old visiting her family in Perth on February 24, 2021, testified that she first saw Keys, naked, at the window of his Friar Street property around 7 pm, when she arrived at her mother’s nearby house.
She stated, 'He was flashing at the window.
I saw everything.' She also filmed him from her car as they drove away, though the footage was not shown in court.
The mother, aged 39, also observed Keys flexing his muscles and said she felt he was doing it for an audience, describing his body language as clear.
She added that it was a 'horrible feeling' to experience this in front of her child.
Keys denied deliberately exposing himself but admitted to being naked at home as part of his nightly routine, saying he was exercising topless and enjoying his reflection.
He told the court police arrived at about midnight, believing he knew why they were there, and ultimately arresting him for sexual exposure.
He claimed he was just careless and not intentionally exposing himself.
During the trial, Sheriff William Gilchrist expressed certainty that Keys was intentionally exposing himself and stated, 'You were either doing this for your own sexual gratification or to cause the women some distress.' The judge convicted him of the offence under section eight of the Sexual Offences Act, but deferred sentence for background reports.
The court did not order him to register as a sex offender.
Photos show Keys appearing at Perth Sheriff Court, and court verdicts emphasized that there was no doubt about his intentional conduct, which was viewed as causing distress to the victims.
