BRYAN HENDERSON
Bryan Henderson, a registered social care worker, has been removed from the register by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) following a lengthy fitness-to-practise hearing held over seven days in February 2026.
The watchdog ruled that Henderson’s fitness to practise is impaired due to misconduct and imposed the most serious sanction available — a Removal Order, which took effect on 4 March 2026.
Serious sexual misconduct The panel found that Henderson sexually assaulted a young man, known as “AA”, on two occasions in 2001.
Henderson claimed the sexual activity had been consensual.
However, the panel rejected his account and instead accepted the victim’s evidence, describing it as “clear, consistent and credible.” Regulators concluded it was more likely than not that the victim did not consent, meaning the behaviour amounted to serious sexual misconduct.
The panel said the acts were “of the utmost seriousness”, particularly because they involved non-consensual sexual activity with a vulnerable young man.
Workplace incident also examined The hearing also looked at a separate workplace allegation while Henderson worked as a night senior carer between 2019 and 2020.
Henderson admitted unhooking a colleague’s bra without her consent.
However, the panel found no evidence that the colleague suffered distress or that the act was sexually motivated, and other parts of the allegation were not proven.
“No insight or apology” Despite Henderson’s work record since the earlier incident, the panel said he showed no insight into his behaviour and offered no apology.
Regulators said this raised concerns about public safety and trust in the profession.
The decision states that allowing him to continue practising would undermine public confidence in social care services.
Removed from the profession After considering possible sanctions, the panel ruled that nothing short of removal from the register was appropriate.
The decision means Henderson is no longer allowed to work as a registered social care worker under the SSSC.
The panel concluded that sexual misconduct of this nature is fundamentally incompatible with caring for vulnerable people.
